Web research
Web mode lets OPAW look things up on the web before it answers. Use it when you want current information or when you want to see where an answer comes from. To turn it on, pick Web as the mode before you send your request.
How Web mode works
Web mode runs in two steps.
- OPAW searches the web with Tavily to find relevant pages.
- A model reads those results and writes your answer, citing sources as
[n]wherenis a numbered source.
The numbers in the answer point to the source list, so you can follow a claim back to the page it came from.
Always review the sources
A cited answer is a starting point, not the final word. Open the sources and check that they say what the answer claims. Pages can be out of date, wrong, or missing the detail you need. When a decision matters, read the original source yourself before you act on it.
Availability
Web mode is available when an administrator has enabled a provider and verified a free model, and when web search is set up. A free provider limit can pause the mode for a while. If Web mode is not available, try again later or use another mode.
